Pedigree said in a statement that people with land in Decentraland will have land called the “Fosterverse” that will house homeless animal avatars.
Owners of land in Decentraland will be able to upload the avatars of homeless dogs from the Adopt a Pet platform.
The inclusion of the avatars on Decentraland landowners’ land will allow for greater public exposure of these homeless dogs in order to promote real-life adoption of the canines.

Virtual interaction and donation for dogs
People who enter Decentraland will be able to interact with the virtual pets to learn about their background, and adoption status and decide if they want to adopt them in real life.
They can also donate money to the Pedigree Foundation in order to help pets that are still homeless.
The foundation has a goal of raising about $100,000 to support the organization and further promote the project.
“This program [also] allows people to support dogs from virtual adoption in the metaverse,” said Mars Petcare vice president of marketing Jean-Paul Jansen.
He noted that the brand and Pedigree Foundation have a long history of supporting animal shelters.
“We are proud to be at the forefront of this new virtual reality, supporting our ambition to end pet homelessness,” Jansen said.
