Ye (formerly Kanye West) bought free-speech social network Web3 Parler. Parlement Technologies reached an agreement with the American music, sports and clothing mogul.

Parler
Parler announced in December last year that it was launching an NFT marketplace in its first foray into web3.
Parler bills itself as the world’s pioneering platform for non-cancellable free speech. As such, it has attracted the support of major political and media personalities, such as right-wing activist and heiress Rebekah Mercer.
Ye’s decision to buy Parler is motivated in part by its recent censorship on major social media platforms.
The American record producer and fashion designer was banned from Twitter and Instagram for anti-Semitic tweets that, according to one expert, constitute hate speech.
His decision to buy Parler mirrors similar moves by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who founded Truth Social after the tech giants banned him in 2020 citing polarizing messages.
Ye says his decision is driven by the need to create a truly non-cancelable environment where all voices are welcome.
“In a world where conservative views are considered controversial, we need to make sure we have the right to express ourselves freely,” Ye said.
Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer praised Ye as a compatriot in the fight for free speech saying, “This agreement will change the world, and it will change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is taking a groundbreaking step into the media space of free speech and will never again have to fear being removed from social media.”
“Once again, Ye demonstrates that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals,” Farmer added.
The acquisition is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2022, and Parlement will offer ongoing technical support and access to its cloud services through its private cloud and data center infrastructure.
