WMG and The Sandbox throw a metaverse party for Spinnin’ Records’ World’s Biggest Demo Drop.
World’s Biggest Demo Drop (WBDD)
The World’s Biggest Demo Drop (WBDD), one of the most renowned DJ contests, has entered the metaverse.
WBDD is a contest launched by Spinnin’ Records in which DJs from all over the world can submit their recordings for a chance to get an official release with the organizer or Musical Freedom.

This year the contest will have a different twist: the winning DJs will have the opportunity to present their music at a metaverse party hosted by The Sandbox and organized in collaboration with Warner Music Group (WMG).
The party, which will run through February 8, 2023, will feature each DJ as an avatar that visitors can interact with.
In addition, this year’s winners’ songs will not only be released on Spinnin’ Records but will also become NFT with LGND Music, a music-focused NFT platform created through a collaboration between WMG, LGND, and Polygon.
WMG and Web3
Music, like art, is increasingly integrated into Web3 and WMG seems to be leading the way.
Last April, Warner Music Group collaborated with POAP on NFT publishing to commemorate special moments, and in September announced a partnership with OpenSea, NFT’s main marketplace, to promote its Web3 initiatives.
Recently, WMG invested in metaverse fashion retailer DRESSX, which allows WMG artists to use the platform to develop their own 3D digital fashion collections.
It has also partnered with the NFT game Splinterlands to bring artists to the web3 and partnered with OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplace, to allow selected artists to launch NFT drops.
The company had previously partnered with the green NFT platform OneOf to create an NFT marketplace for music artists.
WMG has recently partnered with LGND.io and Polygon to launch an NFT platform for artists called LGND Music NFT Marketplace.
