On Tuesday, the Sandbox team announced its partnership with nWay, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. Through the partnership, the metaverse gaming platform aims to add utility to select Apex Athletes.

Partnership between The Sandbox and Apex Athletes

According to the announcement, Apex Athletes Shaun White, Nathan Chen, Chloe Kim, Lindsey Vonn and Ayumu Hirano will get their exclusive 3D avatar skins in The Sandbox.

Featuring 26 winter sports athletes, the Apex Athletes collection consists of 2,000 NFT. In addition to images and videos of the athlete collection, the collection also features some exclusive signed versions.

A private sale took place on April 21 on the Apex Athletes website. Following that, Apex Athletes has scheduled a public sale on April 26. For the private and public sales, the Apex Athletes mintage price is 0.05 ETH and 0.07 ETH, respectively.

Future plans of Apex Athletes

In fact, this collaboration is the first in a series of utilities that nWay has planned for Apex Athletes. As nWay continues to develop new projects, it plans to collaborate with other Animoca Brands projects.

In addition, The Sandbox has mentioned ongoing discussions with nWay to create an “Apex Athletes winter park.” It will also be built in The Sandbox metaverse, “where players will be able to shred on the snowboard halfpipe or showcase the quad axel jump on the ice skating rink.”

Built on the Ethereum blockchain, The Sandbox is a virtual world where users can create, own and monetize gaming experiences. Lately, the platform has continuously populated its metaverse space with celebrities and notable projects.
