Animated celebrity creator and vinyl toy manufacturer, Superplastic, launches the latest part of the SUPERGUCCI NFT collection created in collaboration with Gucci.

The NFT collection was announced in February as a two-part series of superlimited NFTs created jointly by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele and Superplastic’s digital artists Janky & Guggimon.

However, only holders of the SUPERGUCCI Janky NFT released in the first release will receive the new Gucci Love Parade-inspired Gucci Love Parade-inspired Guggimon NFT, which completes the virtual duo’s set.

As only 500 NFT have been minted for each release, those who want to get their hands on the Guggimon NFT will have to bid for it on the secondary market.

The Guggimon NFT unlocks access to a new ceramic Guggimon sculpture produced at the Bitossi factory in Italy, which is sent to holders to complete the digital and physical SUPERGUCCI collection.

Over the past year, Superplastic’s Janky and Guggimon NFTs have generated more than $20 million in total sales, with a current minimum SUPERGUCCI resale price of 1.18 ETH on OpenSea.

“Our celebrities have tens of millions of fans and followers around the world and partnering with Gucci, one of the most identifiable brands on the planet, was an exciting collaboration for both of us,” said Paul Budnitz, CEO and founder of SUPERPLASTIC.

Gucci is not Superplastic’s only collaborator in the NFT space. In April, Superplastic collaborated with Yuga Labs to launch a limited-edition NFT collection of vinyl art toys called “SuperBored,” based on the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.

Budnitz told Highsnobiety that there is an upcoming Guccighost drop in September, as well as new experiential art spaces in some U.S. cities next year.

The company recently opened its flagship store in Manhattan, with a gallery for installations and community gatherings.

Gucci and Web3

In addition to SUPERGUCCI’s collaboration with Superplastic, Gucci has been in the news for its moves into the Web3 space, including the Gucci Aria NFT film sold through Christie’s auction for a final price of $25,000; a May 2021 Gucci Garden virtual experience on online gaming platform Roblox; and a land purchase at The Sandbox.

In May, Gucci established a permanent presence on Roblox with Gucci Town. Last week, Gucci launched its first metaverse fragrance on Gucci Town and chose Miley Cyrus as the face of its digital and physical campaign for the Flora Fantasy fragrance.

In June, Gucci acquired its first DAO through a partnership with NFT marketplace, SuperRare. With the investment, Gucci and SuperRare are launching Vault Art Space, an experimental online space featuring a regular rotation of exhibitions.

Last week, Gucci announced it was accepting ApeCoin as a cryptocurrency in select U.S. stores.
