Ronin Rolls Out Waypoint to Introduce Instant Onboarding and In-Game Transactions for Gamers

September 13, 2024 – Ronin, the fastest-growing and largest gaming blockchain announces the launch of Ronin Waypoint a universal cross-game account system designed to provide instant gamer onboarding, streamlined player engagement, and new monetization streams for Web3 game studios.

Despite the ongoing challenges of seamless onboarding and native gaming experiences in Web3, Ronin’s massive growth—currently at 1.7 million daily active users—has been fueled by successful closed beta tests (CBTs) from newly deployed games like Forgotten Runiverse, Lumiterra, and Ragnarok: Monster World. The introduction of Ronin Waypoint aims to advance the network’s on-chain gaming experience by delivering a unified player experience across Ronin games and dApps, all accessible through a single account credential.

Ronin Waypoint leverages Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology to generate secure keyless wallets, allowing for simpler email and social logins without the need for seed phrases or browser extensions. This technology safeguard users from scams and phishing attacks, in addition to providing the highest level of security by distributing key control across multiple parties, ensuring that no single party has full access.

This solution will help game studios maximize user conversion by enabling gamers to complete their first on-chain transaction upon account creation, while also streamlining player engagement by introducing gas-free experiences and pioneering in-game transaction use cases for Web3 gaming. For example, instead of forcing players to leave the game and navigate to an external website to purchase NFTs and perform other on-chain actions, Ronin Waypoint allows them to seamlessly complete on-chain transactions from directly inside a game.

“It’s becoming increasingly evident that there is a disconnect between Western capital allocation in crypto and the active user base from emerging economies like Southeast Asia and Latin America, where many of Ronin’s users are located. Web3 gaming still holds significant potential for mass crypto adoption, and we believe that the launch of Ronin Waypoint is the next step towards this vision,” commented Jeffrey Zirlin, CGO of Sky Mavis, the developer of Ronin.

Ronin Waypoint provides multi-platform integration, currently available on Unity, Telegram, iOS and Android. The integration is live on Axie Infinity Classic, and will soon extend to Axie Infinity Origins and other partner game studios on Ronin. Developers can also soon look forward to in-game marketplace features to boost monetization in-game, transaction policy management for pre-approved on-chain spending limits, and player behavioral analytics to monitor performance and optimize user rewards.
