The popular Rolling Stone magazine launched two new non-fungible tokens (NFT) on June 22 in collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). This is the second time the two have partnered to launch NFTs.
The new releases also include two physical art prints, which sold out shortly after launch. The NFTs are available for auction on the NFT OpenSea marketplace.

What is this collaboration about?
The exclusive pieces from the Rolling Stone and Bored Ape Yacht Club collaboration feature BAYC’s versions of the bored ape and mutant ape, which the magazine calls “Curtis.”
In one, the ape can be seen lounging in a hammock on the dock at the Bored Ape Clubhouse. Wearing a yacht captain’s cap, he is seen strumming a ukulele as his cigar smoke takes the shape of a yacht in the clouds.
The second is Rolling Stone’s collaboration with the Mutant Ape Yacht Club. It sees the ape escaping from what the magazine describes as “a mutant slime volcano on his motorcycle, leaving behind – and outwitting – the lava plume behind.”
Bidding for the two NFTs, both animated, is underway. Anyone can bid on OpenSea for the next two days in the same way that bids are placed for other NFTs in the marketplace. Bids for each of the NFTs must be placed separately.
Payment can be made in ApeCoin through the official Bored Ape Yacht Club store.
Winners not only get the NFTs, but also receive special collector’s items signed by the Yuga Labs founders who created BAYC.
The collector’s items also bear the signatures of the artists and Rolling Stone’s CEO.
The physical art prints, which sold out in their limited time frame, were offered for $100 in ApeCoin, not including shipping and handling. Each of the prints measures 8.5 x 11 inches on 290 GSM art paper.
This is not the first collaboration between the two
Rolling Stone launched its first digital NFT cover in 2021 with BAYC. Two apes, including a mutant, appeared on the cover with the Rolling Stone logo.
