The Professional Fighters League (PFL) today announced a partnership with SportsIcon, NFT’s platform for athletes and collectors, to create the PFL MMA metaverse, which will allow the league to engage fans in new ways.
SportsIcon and the PFL
SportsIcon, an NFT platform dedicated to sports collectibles, will create an MMA metaverse around the PFL and its world-class fighters for its dedicated fan base.
The collaboration will be an extension of the world’s #2 MMA league on web3, which has already partnered with NFT solutions platform Mercury for the PFL’s NFT marketplace.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL)
The PFL is the second largest MMA league in the world and has live event coverage in 160 countries across major distribution platforms such as ESPN and ESPN+ Channel 4, DirecTV, RMC Sport, Eurosport, Sky Sports, etc.
“I am proud to announce that the Professional Fighters League partnered with SportsIcon to create the groundbreaking PFL MMA Metaverse experience for fans around the world,” said Jon Tuck, CRO of the PFL. “The PFL’s new Metaverse platform will bring increased fan engagement and give the league’s sponsors organic activation opportunities in this new interactive space.”
Featuring an elite roster of fighters, with 25% of its fighters independently ranked in the top 25 in the world, including 2021 PFL champions Ray Cooper III and Movlid Khaybulaev, the PFL is the first and only MMA league with a true sports season format in which elite fighters from around the world compete in a regular season, playoffs and championship.
The four contenders in each division who score the most points in the Regular Season advance to the Playoffs, where they must win or go home, followed by the biggest night in MMA, the PFL World Championship, where each winner receives a $1 million prize.
