The NBA has officially filed for a non fungible token (NFT) trademark. In addition, they have just registered 2 ENS domain names. The first one is nba.eth and the second one is theassociationnft.eth.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has also launched its official discord channel. Native Web3 fans now have access to this NBA discord community hub and the sentiment is very positive.

Players around the league have begun to endorse and accept crypto sponsorships on a large scale. That said, the NBA is expected to launch an NFT or something related to cryptoassets sooner rather than later.
NBA enters the NFT space
The National Basketball Associaiton is starting its playoffs and is looking to make a splash off the court as well. With the league’s huge increase in followers over the past few years, they are now looking to innovate more. They have a new Twitter account that is the “official home of the NBA on Web3.”
Based on the dossier, the league has prepared a presentation for “The Association.” This would include a wide range of virtual and physical assets. The goods included could be anything from game tickets to trading cards to online gaming software. With all the possible utilities being announced, NBA fans are super excited.
The NBA wants to launch its own NFT collection and fully expand into the metaverse. It is looking to grow its fan base and leverage its current one even more.
Different sports leagues around the world have integrated NFTs into their platforms, one of the most recent being Sorare and La Liga; the 1st division of the Spanish soccer league.
