Sharjahverse is the name of the first city within the metaverse that is supported by the Trade and Tourism Development Authority of the city of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in partnership with Multiverse Labs.
This partnership will bring a new generation of metaverse tourism to the Emirate of Sharjah.
The Sharjahverse is 2,590 square kilometers and is described by Multiverse Labs as a “photorealistic and physically accurate” metaverse that will support the local tourism sector and create new jobs within the metaverse.
Multiverse Labs
Multiverse Labs is in charge of building metaverses that have economic and social utility for governments and organizations, they use artificial intelligence to create an ecosystem to build, simulate and create a new style of experiencing the internet.
Multiverse has a very realistic platform that is not only used for recreation, as it can be used for simulations, services and artificial intelligence optimization.
Its avatars are created from photographs of real people, which is why it is known as the first true metaverse.
That’s why we call Multiverse the first true metaverse; it’s much more than a terrain or a game. We’re looking forward to unveiling the use cases we’ve been developing with our partners in the coming months.
It’s enabled by our advanced generative A.I. and our incredible team. We recently joined the NVIDIA Inception program and have been using NVIDIA RTXâ„¢ technology for our projects. Creating something on the scale of Sharjahverse just a year ago would have been impossible.”
NVIDIA Inception is designed to bolster cutting-edge startups, like Multiverse Labs, that are applying AI in new and innovative ways that ultimately benefit society,” said Serge Lemonde, global head of NVIDIA Inception.”
Multiverse Labs will also enable new opportunities for a changing planet, as the nationwide metaverse for simulation can reduce energy consumption and increase facility optimization.
Initially applied to the retail and tourism sector today, it will move into broader areas such as utilities, foreign direct investment, real estate, industrial manufacturing sites and the energy industry.
GITEX 2022 audiences will be able to experience Sharjahverse first-hand and create their own realistic avatar on the first and second floors of Digital Sharjah’s epic booth.
Cliff Szu, CEO of Multiverse Labs, said, “Sharjahverse is the world’s first government-backed, publicly visible metaverse city and the world’s most realistic metaverse. We are delighted to collaborate with the visionaries of SCTDA: H.E. Chairman Khalid Jasim Al Midfa and H.E. Director Sheikh Salim Mohammed Al Qassimi, and SCTDA’s exceptional marketing department.”
Support from the United Arab Emirates
The metaverse city has the support of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), which is in charge of promoting the emirate’s tourism industry.
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of the SCTDA, commented that this new initiative seeks to transform tourism “towards new generation sustainable practices”.
Despite not being as well known as Dubai, Sharjah is the second most populated emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with 1.8 million inhabitants, and through the Sharjahverse everyone will be able to visit the emirate.
