Music licensing platform Lickd has partnered with Decentraland’s Vegas City to bring commercial music to metaverse tenants.
Lickd and Vegas City
Lickd has signed a two-year deal with Decentraland’s Vegas City to bring commercial music to metaverse tenants and partners.
Super excited to announce our partnership with LickD, to bring the music you love to @decentraland. We are integrating LickD into our advanced venue management system that powers many of Vegas City’s venues and events. @getlickdhttps://t.co/QEMC8VvKgh

They will be able to access curated playlists and genre-specific radio channels from the Vegas City music player.
The partnership will allow all Vegas City venues to access commercial music in the metaverse, Lickd said Tuesday.
Lickd offers pre-licensed music licensing to social video creators through its platform. It also offers music from independent producers and major labels to YouTube creators, helping them enhance the audience experience.
The new deal follows the company’s partnerships with Warner Music Group and Empire, both in 2020.
Paul Sampson, CEO of Lickd, commented on the new partnership:
“This is a great step for Lickd both in terms of expanding our offering in the metaverse and for the metaverse itself in terms of being able to simplify the music licensing solution. We couldn’t be happier to partner with Vegas City and take another step closer to becoming the best micro-licensing offering in the industry.”
Sampson added that his company will continue to offer cutting-edge solutions that benefit both artists and the platforms we “partner with and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities this will create.”
For his part, James Ashton, CEO of Vegas City commented:
“We are delighted to partner with Lickd to be able to offer our Vegas City partners and tenants access to a significant catalog of commercial music that, until now, has been unavailable.”
Ashton believes the deal will not only enhance the user experience in Vegas City, but will also “open up a whole new horizon of possibilities for musicians, labels and fans.”
Lickd is not the only music services platform aiming for growth in the metaverse. Global streaming music giant Spotify has already launched its campaign in the metaverse along with a number of products including NFT.
On Monday, Abu Dhabi-based Anghami bought Dubai-based live event service provider Spotlight in a bid to tap into the metaverse opportunity.
The 3D virtual world and NFTs have also helped defunct music platforms Limewire and Napster find a new home on Web3.
