Laura Mercier makes its debut in the metaverse this holiday season. The beauty and cosmetics brand has partnered with leading e-commerce platform Obsess to launch “World of Beauty,” an interactive online store.

This metaverse center is part of a Laura Mercier strategy for Christmas. The beauty company, owned by Orveon, was founded by global makeup artist Laura Mercier in 1996.

According to the company, Laura Mercier wants to move into the world of virtual experiences as the metaverse continues to gain traction.

Described simply as a 3D virtual space built on the web3, the metaverse allows people to interact immersively with others through gaming and socializing, or in the case of Laura Mercier’s online store, with beauty and cosmetics products.

The company wants to expand its presence in the experiential e-commerce world with an interactive online shopping experience.

Obsess experience

Obsess offers an interactive social shopping experience that includes the ability to live stream the experience from the online store.

Laura Mercia and brand partner, influencer Karen Gonzalez of @iluvsarahii are hosting a live virtual shopping experience on December 6 to drive their company’s new metaverse store campaign.

The Laura Mercier World of Beauty store uses VR and Ar web technologies to deliver immersive experiences. The store’s interior features high-end 3D items with a 360-degree experience, which draw inspiration from the rich Parisian culture.

Laura Mercier offers a speech to avid fans of her brand, including a brief history of her art and what the brand’s beginnings were like.

The first of three rooms features an introduction to her “Flawless Hand” technique, enlightening shoppers on the steps to achieve her iconic look, while the second room offers a shopping shortcut to curated product catalogs with a direct path to checkout.

Meanwhile, the third room, called “Wrapped with Love,” features Laura Mercier’s holiday collection with interactive 3D unboxing.

The platform also offers an interactive “hide and seek” game that provides users with game elements to encourage trial through mini product giveaways and ultimately lead to purchase.
