Lago Mar Crystal Lagoon Houston offers a NFT Season Pass

Lago Mar Crystal Lagoon in Houston, Texas, now offers NFT season passes. This is the first time a major U.S. attraction has sold NFT passes, according to Lagoon Development Company CEO Uri Man.

Lago Mar Crystal Lagoon Houston debuts NFTs as virtual passes.

The Lago Mar Lagoon is a relatively new development. Since opening in 2020, it has become a staple summer destination in Houston. According to its official website, about 80,000 people purchased day passes to visit the lagoon in 2021. Now, the 12-acre water park launched passes as NFTs.

As of this writing, the park offers four NFT season passes. Each shows a different video of people enjoying Texas’ largest lagoon. The NFT highlights an activity that corresponds to a perk that NFT holders can enjoy.

For example, the “Sailing NFT” gives its holders special sailing privileges on Lago Mar. The other three NFTs give access to aquastrike, kayaking or paddleboarding.

Most importantly, regardless of which NFT you purchase, you can enjoy unlimited access to Lago Mar Crystal Lagoon until the end of this year.

Some of the many benefits included in this NFT pass are discounts on food and beverages, a one-time pass to bring four guests to Lago Mar and special seating and invitations to live entertainment.

Currently, each Lago Mar NFT pass costs between 0.05 and 0.06 ETH (or between $150 and $180). Sales of these virtual season passes will end on May 4.

Texas-based Lagoon is just one of many companies that are testing the utilities of NFTs in ticket sales. For example, TravelX and Air Europa have also partnered to offer NFTickets for flights.

In addition, the MGM Resort is hosting the first NFT-ticketed event for the world-famous dance group Jabbawockeez.

These examples just go to show that NFTs can be an innovative solution to ticketing problems such as manufacturing costs, counterfeiting and fraud.
