PARIS, FRANCE – Jan. 26, 2023 – Kinetix, the artificial intelligence startup bringing emoticons to video games and virtual worlds, announces major advances in the generative AI technology that powers its platform, including an updated AI model for extracting motion from videos and an AI tool that applies a predefined motion to any animation with a single click.

Traditionally, 3D animation has been an expensive and time-consuming process involving 3D experts as well as specialized software and hardware. This is no different for emotes (animations that express emotions), which Kinetix is pioneering.

Its video-to-animation AI and codeless editing tools streamline the process for professionals such as game developers and open up the creation of 3D animations to anyone.

Kinetix emotes can be used with any avatar, within any video game or virtual world.

Introducing Kinetix 2.0 | Better Mocap & New exciting features

The new Kinetix tools have been released as part of version 2.0 of the Kinetix platform and feature a new generation of algorithms for extracting motion from videos, creating better results in terms of pose, translations, and grounding.

The second key element is style transfer filters, an AI tool that applies a predefined motion to any animation, allowing users to create more expressive emotes.

The first style transfer filters available are “Robot” and “Drunk” – animations that need little explanation – and the library of filters will be constantly expanding.

Henri Mirande, CTO and co-founder of Kinetix, said:

“With so much discussion lately about the potential of generative AI to streamline and democratize creative processes, we are proud to announce these advances in our custom AI model. Thanks to them, we can now more accurately extract complex movements from video content, such as back flips, parkour or stair climbing. We’ve also found that many of our users like to create animations from a pre-existing library rather than uploading their own videos. Our AI-driven style transfer filters can be used to enhance both custom-generated and stock animations, adding more fun and humor to the mix.”

In 2022, Kinetix raised $11 million in seed funding in a round led by Adam Ghobarah, founder of Top Harvest Capital, with participation from Sparkle Ventures, and multiple successful virtual world platforms and entrepreneurs.

Kinetix has already established partnerships with leading and emerging virtual worlds such as Roblox, The Sandbox, ZEPETO, Decentraland, and PolyLand.
