Global hotel brand, ibis Styles, today announced its first foray into the metaverse with the launch of a virtual art gallery on Spatial, a metaverse art gallery and exhibition creation platform.
The virtual gallery follows recent IRL events at ibis Bangkok Silom and ibis Styles Sevilla, where original works and NFTs were created. It is also part of ibis Styles’ global Open To Creators campaign, launched in collaboration with Thai graphic artist @tikkywow and Spanish illustrator @naranjalidad.
Both artists are ambassadors of the ibis Styles contest, as ibis Styles followers on Instagram can enter for a chance to win an NFT created by Naranjalidad, which will be transferred through Opensea. The winner will also receive gold membership status for all ibis Styles loyalty programs.

Starting today, the NFTs of all artists associated with the ibis Styles 2022 Open to Creators campaign will be shared in the metaverse’s virtual art gallery, accessible through spatial.io.
“This year, our annual #OpentoCreators campaign has a unique theme, with a focus on digital artists and NFT creators. We are showing our support for these artistic innovators by providing multiple platforms to express their creativity – in our hotels, through our social channels, and ultimately through the metaverse,” said Laure Duberga, Accor’s Vice President of Economic Brands.
The newly opened ibis Styles Bangkok Silom hosted an IRL art experience in August, where @tikkywow created an original artwork that is now on display alongside his two commissioned works that take pride of place in the hotel.
At the same event, an NFT of @tikkywow’s artwork was created for the ibis Styles NFT portfolio and will be featured in the newly launched ibis Styles virtual gallery in the metaverse. Other artists featured at the Bangkok event were @jeffaphisit and @tanstar.artist. Their digital works will also appear in the ibis Styles metaverse gallery available on Opensea.
In September, @naranjalidad led the artistic process at the opening event of the new ibis Styles Sevilla. Collaborating with ibis Styles Instagram fans, @naranjalidad created an NFT that will also appear in the ibis Styles virtual art gallery in the metaverse.
“The goal of our Open to Creators campaign is to democratize today’s most advanced forms of creation – digital art and NFTs – by involving our audience in the creative process. Through our social networks, we hope to ignite the imagination of ibis Styles guests, fans and followers, and invite them to collaborate with these talented digital artists,” said Caroline Bénard, Senior Vice President, Economy and Midscale Brands, Accor.
Hotel Brands in the Metaverse
Hotel brands have been making their presence known in the Web3 space in a variety of ways as they seek to capture a Web3-savvy demographic.
In April, Millennium Hotels and Resorts opened a metaverse hotel in Decentraland, while the NoMo SoHo offered bookings through NFT in May.
In August, the hotel companies that own Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Aria and MGM Resorts & Casinos filed new Web3 trademark applications, indicating plans for NFTs and the metaverse.
