The handset incorporates some features related to the metaverse, NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Among them are ViveVerse (to manage NFTs), Vive Market (to trade them) and Vive Vallet (to store cryptos in Ethereum and Polygon).
The HTC Desire 22 Pro comes preloaded with apps that let you access and manage your metaverse content, including cryptocurrencies and NFTs, from the phone.
A Viverse app also lets you buy NFTs on a digital marketplace and “create your own virtual space,” according to an announcement.
Like HTC’s previous “cryptophones,” the Desire 22 Pro also includes an integrated cryptocurrency wallet for Ethereum and Polygon.
The device is optimized to work with HTC’s lightweight Vive Flow virtual reality viewers, with HDCP 2.2 connectivity allowing content to be wirelessly mirrored to virtual reality viewers, while the Vive Manager app also allows virtual reality hardware to be configured and managed.
The smartphone “opens up new immersive experiences as the perfect companion to VIVE Flow, whether it’s for meeting colleagues in VR or enjoying your own private cinema anywhere,” said Shen Ye, HTC’s Global Head of Product, in a statement accompanying the announcement.

HTC and cryptocurrencies
HTC was an early adopter of cryptocurrency technology.
In 2018 it made the Exodus 1 smartphone with an integrated hardware wallet and the ability to run a full Bitcoin node.
In recent years, HTC has ceded ground to these smartphone rivals, focusing instead on its Vive virtual reality headset.
With the Desire 22 Pro, it is trying to marry its blockchain phone credentials with its virtual reality product line and stake its claim as the first metaverse smartphone.
