Other automakers on Web3
So far, other automakers have made their voices heard through metaverse and NFT projects.
Last December, Porsche celebrated its 70th anniversary in Australia by launching three pieces of NFT digital art featuring the Taycan Turbo.
In addition, Lamborghini has announced three NFT initiatives: the auction of an Aventador Ultimae with a linked NFT, the unveiling of its “Space Time Memory” NFT project, and the announcement of its third NFT effort in partnership with NFT PRO and INVNT.ATOM.
Hyundai and Kia are two other automakers participating in Web3.
Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Lamborghini, Bentley and other major automakers have also released their own NFT collections.
Luxury hypercar maker W Motors entered the Metaverse space in August.
Earlier this week, Renault Korea, the French automaker’s South Korean subsidiary, and The Sandbox, a popular Metaverse platform, introduced virtual car experiences.
Alfa Romeo also incorporated NFT into its vehicles to store maintenance records.
While automakers are entering the NFT space at a rapid pace, it is unclear whether or not this Metaverse rush will produce robust use cases.
Trademark applications are on the rise
Metaverse and NFT-based brand applications are increasing at a massive pace. More and more companies are coming forward not to be left behind and acquire market share to deliver innovative experiences.
Recently, Hooters, Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Wingstop, Panda Express, Tyson Foods, Carl’s Jr. and others have already filed trademark applications to express their intentions to enter the metaverse with virtual food and beverages and offer NFTs.
Likewise, Champion, Under Armour, Herman Miller, Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton and Carhartt have already filed similar trademark applications.
