Dr. Martens, a British footwear and apparel brand founded in Germany, has filed a trademark application for its name, indicating its intention to join the metaverse.
In the application made to the USPTO in November, the company wants to offer:
- Virtual reality models;
- Virtual goods, namely, boots, shoes, sandals, hats, shoe cleaning preparations, hats, etc;
- Online retail store services in connection with virtual goods.
Trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis posted this on his official twitter account.

Dr. Martens and the Web3
Last year, the footwear brand collaborated with TRASHYMUSE, a community-driven brand specializing in digital apparel and lifestyle products, to launch a campaign promoting the TARIK and AUDRICK, two new progressive styles.
For the campaign, which aimed to create a concept for the digital revolution, TRASHYMUSE reinterpreted the new styles by taking them into the metaverse and infusing them with a cyber soundscape.
Dr. Martens seems to be one of the fashion brands that foresaw the present, a new era where fashion becomes digital and allows people to connect and express themselves in the virtual world.
