The popular CryptoVoxels Metaverse game is officially revamped to Voxels. The event took place on May 3 at 8 pm EDT. Meanwhile, players celebrated the change with a metaverse party during VoxCon.

Why has CryptoVoxels been rebranded?

As of May 3, the popular virtual world CryptoVoxels has rebranded to Voxels. This update marks a new goal for the project: reaching out to the general public.

To celebrate the rebranding, the metaverse held a virtual show with live DJ music. In addition, there was a special AMA (Ask Me Anything) session with founders Ben Nolan and Benjamin Larcher.

At this point, the Web3 world has expanded far beyond cryptocurrencies. Users are more interested than ever in exploring the benefits of various metaverses. As a virtual space that empowers players, (formerly) CryptoVoxels plays a key role in the evolution of the Web3 metaverse.

However, its founder, Ben Nolan, believes that the word “crypto” no longer fits the name of the game so well:

“Cryptovoxels was founded on April 1, 2018, before NFTs hit the mainstream,” he said. “The word “crypto” can have a negative connotation in the public mind and yet the future of decentralization is bright and we believe in user sovereignty. Cryptovoxels is Voxels, a rebranding that coincides with our goal of embracing the growth and culture of Web 3.0.”

What should users expect from Voxels?

In short, the metaverse will keep its core values intact. Therefore, players will enjoy the same freedom within the ecosystem. As a result, the platform is growing at the speed of light. From mini-games to islands and customized properties, users have endless possibilities.

However, the metaverse aims to take Web3 experiences to a new level for all Web2 users. Of course, CryptoVoxels’ rebranding process is part of that same digital journey.

Lead developer and product owner of the platform, Benjamin Larcher, explained the evolution in broad strokes:

“I am committed to continuing to improve the Voxels experience,” he said in a statement. “This includes performance improvements, more accessibility, more features and, most importantly, more value for the community. As a player, I’m eager to see how Voxels becomes a better Cryptovoxels.”

How will the rebranding affect the metaverse?

For starters, CryptoVoxels – now rebranded to Voxels – is the first metaverse created. The platform has been around since 2018, long before the 2021 NFT boom.

Surprisingly, the metaverse evolved along with the crypto and NFT markets. For example, the giant Google Play launched its own digital store in the virtual world in 2021. This breakthrough speaks volumes about the success of CryptoVoxels.

Judging by its achievements, the rebranding of the metaverse could indeed increase its global exposure. This means that by 2022 we will see more and more Web2 users adopt Voxels’ unique Web3 experiences.
