CBS has announced the launch of its hit comedy series Ghosts in the metaverse. The launch is part of a marketing campaign dubbed Summer of Ghosts, launched in collaboration with marketing agency Web3 CreativeDepartmint.

The world of Ghosts is hosted in the Decentraland metaverse. Fans of the series will be able to experience it in an immersive 3D environment that will allow them to explore the haunted mansion.
What will the metaverse experience be about?
Users will have the opportunity to solve puzzles in a 3D version of Woodstone Manor, explore various adventures and collect collectible NFTs.
CreativeDepartmint has used sets from the series and characters voiced by actors from the series to make the experience as realistic as possible.
Said Mike Benson, president and chief marketing officer of CBS:
“We continually look for innovative ways to develop new audiences for CBS programming and our hit series Ghosts, with its large following, otherworldly characters and expansive setting, seemed a natural fit for the metaverse.”
Benson commented that the metaverse has allowed CreativeDepartmint and the creators of the hit series to bring the show to life in an exciting way.
It allows visitors to have their own unique experience while exploring the world of the series,” he added.
The game will also feature a series of NFTs, which will be minted on the Ethereum Layer 2 scaling protocol Polygon, which limits carbon emissions while allowing users to mint non-fungible tokens at low prices.
CBS said:
“There are 1,100 tokens available for each character with varying degrees of rarity, giving fans the opportunity to own a piece of comedy history on a blockchain network that champions an unparalleled user experience and fast speeds.”
According to Jonathan Block-Verk, founder of CreativeDepartmint, Ghosts is the first Decentraland game built by a U.S. network.
“Since opening our doors, CreativeDepartmint has brought major media brands into innovative spaces like Web3 to surprise and delight existing fans and attract new audiences to their IP with authenticity and style,” he said.
It should be noted that Ghosts is just the latest program to leverage Web3. In February, AMC Networks, the creators of the hit TV series The Walking Dead, partnered with NFT production studio Orange Comet to launch The Walking Dead NFTs.
