Carhartt, the U.S. apparel company founded in 1889, has filed a trademark application for its “Work in Progress” name, logo and slogan, indicating its plans to enter the metaverse and the non-fungible token (NFT) space.

According to the trademark application, which was filed with the USPTO on July 29, the company plans to offer

  • Virtual goods, namely footwear, apparel, hats and eyewear;
  • Online store and marketplace services for virtual goods;
  • NFTs and NFT-backed media.

The news was shared today via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

Many other fashion brands are following in Carhartt’s footsteps and joining both the metaverse and the NFT arena.
