GAMEE a subsidiary of blockchain investment company Animoca Brands has partnered with Manchester City to bring soccer to play-to-earn games.

GAMEE has announced a partnership with English Premier League champions Manchester City to create soccer-themed games on its Arc8 play-to-earn platform. The first game to appear on the P2E mobile platform is “Manchester City Striker,” which Animoca describes as a captivating soccer game with 3D graphics and addictive gameplay.

The game challenges players to beat an AI-controlled goalkeeper and keep hitting the goal with increasing difficulty.

GAMEE plans to host several exclusive matches and competitions in Manchester City Striker, in which players can participate to earn crypto and rewards. The Man City Striker game will ultimately become Arc8’s inaugural arcade game. A virtual gaming space that brings together brands, creators and players in one ecosystem, the “Arcadeverse”.

Bozena Rezab, CEO of GAMEE, commented on her company’s new venture:

“Arc8 started as a mobile app offering cryptocurrency rewards to play and win, and grew into a product with a global audience of 200,000 monthly active users.”

Arc8 now aims to become the hub for brands looking to transition into the blockchain gaming space in partnership with GAMEE.

“Manchester City is one of the first partners to get going and we are delighted to be collaborating with one of the world’s leading sports brands,” added Rezab.

Arc8 has already launched 11 other games that are currently active. One of the most popular is Asteroids, launched in collaboration with Atari. GAMEE said it will announce other brand partnerships in the coming weeks.

Win-to-win arcade games have emerged as one of the most interesting mashups in the blockchain gaming ecosystem, mixing competition-based arcade games with crypto rewards.

GAMEE’s partnership with Manchester City is also part of Animoca Brands‘ broad strategy to expand its blockchain gaming ecosystem through partnerships, acquisitions and new product development.

Separately, Man City is expanding its foray into cryptocurrencies and NFTs after partnering with tech giant Sony to launch a metaverse version of its Etihad Stadium.
