Starting from the 2022-23 season, AC Milan fans will be able to collect, trade and play with the soccer club’s officially licensed digital cards on Sorare.

AC Milan and Sorare

AC Milan and fantasy soccer gaming platform, Sorare, today announced an exclusive multi-year partnership in which the soccer club expands its Web3 strategy.

With this new agreement Sorare joins the Rossoneri club’s roster of premium partners, while AC Milan officially enters Sorare’s NFT-based fantasy soccer game.

Leveraging blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens, the platform allows soccer fans to own and trade digital collectibles of their favorite soccer clubs.

Starting in the 2022-23 season, AC Milan fans will be able to collect, trade and play with the soccer club’s officially licensed digital cards on Sorare as part of an immersive global gaming experience.

With more than two million registered users on Sorare, the partnership gives AC Milan access to a new fan engagement tool, while creating a new revenue stream through NFT licensing in the sports gaming category for the soccer club

“We are delighted to welcome Sorare to our exclusive family of premium partners. Today marks the beginning of a new journey with an exciting, young brand that is at the forefront of the NFT revolution and has been able to merge digital collectibles and fantasy sports,” said Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan.

AC Milan and Web3

The partnership is a new development in AC Milan’s broader Web3 strategy and a further step into the NFT space. The soccer club launched its first NFT project in April with a limited edition 3D Rossoneri South Sudan jersey for sale for charity.

In May, a match between AC Milan and Fiorentina was streamed live in the metaverse, taking the soccer club another step toward adopting Web3 technology. It was the first league match broadcast in the metaverse.

“As an innovative club, we are exploring this sector with a clear strategy in mind, aiming to offer our more than 500 million fans around the world exciting additional ways to engage with their club. That’s why we are delighted to partner with Sorare and introduce their digital collectibles to our fan base,” added Stylsvig.

Sorare and its partnerships

Sorare has partnered with more than 260 sports organizations since its founding in 2018. The platform combines NFTs and sports games to create fan engagement between sports organizations and their supporters.

In addition to AC Milan, Sorare has also recently launched a multi-year partnership with the Argentine Football Association. Last month, French soccer star Kylian Mbappé became an investor, social impact partner and ambassador for Sorare.

“We are building a passion-fueled gaming experience where fans can connect with soccer and a global community. At Sorare, they can truly own the game. We are proud to partner with the legendary AC Milan to help them connect with fans around the world through the future of soccer collectibles,” said Michael Meltzer, Sorare’s Director of Business Development.
