With the ability to jump and float alongside players as they compete in the Echo VR Stadium, fans will be able to get closer than ever to the game they love.
The 3D experience of being able to watch the game from the center of the stadium is a world first and forms the basis of Virtex’s ambition to become the home of the most memorable and unique game events.
Experiencing these breathtaking moments at the same time unifies fans, and this is ensured by the fact that everyone in the stadium receives the same synchronized live broadcast.
Echo VR and Virtex
The launch of Echo VR is the first step in this direction, and Virtex is already preparing more announcements for early next year, with the addition of one of the world’s leading esports titles to the platform.
Social integration is also an important part of the Virtex arena experience, and fans can create a full-body 3D avatar with their image thanks to technology provided by Ready Player Me (a Virtex partner in the cross-game avatar platform).
Once ready, fans can enter the concourse and move on to the lounge bar and main concourse, relaxed spaces perfect for gathering with friends and other fans and discovering together some of the fun games and interactions hidden here.
By removing local limitations, Virtex Stadium allows fans to follow their favorite events live with friends and family, wherever they are in the world.
Maintaining a safe and inclusive environment is absolutely critical and Virtex has partnered with Modulate to ensure this.
With the integration of Modulate’s ToxMod voice moderation software, any toxic and/or abusive behavior is quickly identified and addressed.
Virtex Stadium was created by of co-founders Tim McGuinness and Christoph Ortlepp after meeting at a VR League Finals occasion in 2019, wherein they found out they shared a vision for redefining the eSports fan revel in.
Former Team Gravity Echo VR player Tim McGuinness attended the casting and, after sharing an early prototype of the Virtex Stadium, without delay convinced tech entrepreneur Christoph Ortlepp of its capacity.
This brought about the founding of Virtex in 2020. Recently, the organisation welcomed task buyers Anorak. VC, who had been additionally early investors in Oculus and RecRoom, in addition to FOV.Ventures, a brand new gaming and RX-oriented fund that invested in Ready Player Me, amongst others.
This new investment is further to the seed spherical that happened in advance this year.
“As a fan, even if you’re not playing, you’re just as excited and passionate about the big moments as the players themselves. We want fans to be as close to the action as possible, and by removing the limitations of 2D displays, Virtex Stadium has created an experience that far surpasses anything else. I can personally say what it feels like to play in Echo VR at the highest level, and the visual experience Virtex Stadium delivers is as close as it gets,” said Tim Mcguinness, CEO and co-founder of Virtex.
Following the collaboration with Meta and Ready at Dawn in February 2022, rigorous beta testing of Echo VR is underway at Virtex Stadium.
With the positive results so far, the company is accelerating its plans and preparing to welcome more players. This is one of the many activations Virtex has planned with its partners.
Stay tuned for more in early 2023, when Virtex will bring some of the world’s best esports titles to the platform.
“This experience didn’t exist before, so we had to develop a lot of new technologies from scratch and also define the initial user experience from scratch. To understand it, we talked to all the players in the eSports ecosystem, including publishers, leagues, teams, players and fans.” Ortlepp talked about the challenges.
Currently available in closed beta through Oculus PC-VR on compatible virtual reality goggles, Virtex has partnered with the National Esports Professional Association (NEPA) to bring a dedicated Echo VR event to the arena this December, where some of the best eSports teams will compete in Echo VR.
