Since Amazon bet on Augmented Reality in its mobile application in 2017 to virtually test how selected furniture would look at home, it has not stopped increasing the types of commercial products that users can try virtually through the mobile application prior to purchase.
Today they go a step further, never better said, in this regard, as the company will now allow users to also try on footwear from a number of brands virtually, through Augmented Reality, whose experience is available for the moment for users in the United States and Canada through the Amazon shopping app for iOS.

Trying on shoes without leaving home
In the brief FAQ section attached to the official release, they further note that they will soon be bringing this shopping experience to users of Amazon’s shopping app for Android devices as well.
The company notes that for the launch, it already has thousands of footwear models from brands such as New Balance, adidas, Reebok, Puma, Superga, Lacoste, Asics and Saucony, with which users will be able to choose the model and see how they fit from every possible angle from the comfort of home, although it is also committed to expanding the footwear models to more styles in the future.
The new experience works in such a way that, once the shoe model has been chosen, users have to press the “Virtual Try On” button, available below the product image, and point the camera of their cell phones at their feet to see how they fit.
During this trial experience, they will be able to move their feet to see how they fit from all possible points of view.
If they are not convinced, they can switch to another shoe model by navigating through the carousel, without having to leave the augmented reality experience.
For Muge Erdirik Dogan, president of Amazon Fashion:
We are excited to introduce Virtual Try-On for Shoes, so customers can try on thousands of styles from brands they know and love at their convenience, wherever they are.
We look forward to listening and learning from customer feedback as we continue to improve the experience and expand to more brands and styles.
Customers in the U.S. and Canada can scan the QR code on Amazon’s website to try on the virtual shoe or search for the term “Virtual Try On” in the Amazon app for iOS.
